The Limpopo Provincial Legislature today convened a sitting at the Lebowakgomo Legislative Chambers for the tabling of budget votes as part of the 2026/27 provincial budget process
The sitting was presided over by the Deputy Speaker of the Legislature, Hon. Tebogo Mamorobela, while Speaker of the Legislature, Dr. Makoma Makhurupetje, delivered the budget speech for Vote 02: Limpopo Legislature. During the sitting, Members of the Executive Council tabled departmental budget votes outlining priorities and planned service delivery interventions for the 2026/27 financial year. MEC for Social Development, Hon. Florence Radzilani, presented Vote 12: Department of Social Development, while MEC Hon. Grace Kekana tabled Vote 04: Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. The budget presentations form part of the Legislature’s constitutional mandate to consider, debate, and oversee the allocation of provincial resources aimed at advancing service delivery and socio-economic development across Limpopo.































The portfolio committee on Sport, Arts & Culture has during their second session met
with the Limpopo Sports Confederations with representative from all the districts in the Province. They briefed members on their composition, services offered by the confederations, their stakeholders and challenges faced by these statutory bodies.

earlier met with office of the provincial state attorney represented by their head of office Mr. Machaka Chuene for a briefing on their composition, recruitment process, their area of work and workload involved, and their level of involvement on litigations in relation to the department of Sport, Arts & Culture in terms of those outstanding, concluded and recoveries made to-date.









The Secretary of Limpopo Legislature Dr. Maake MT together with Management team
convened a Special meeting with the Department of Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure and related stakeholders. The meeting which was chaired by the department, served to officially hand over contractors who will be responsible for the refurbishment of the Legislature building. Following the meeting, all participants including stakeholders led by Dr. Maake, conducted a walkabout to assess the area earmarked for the future construction of a new road .

























The Limpopo Legislature's Portfolio Committee on Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs led by the Chairperson Hon. Champ Sepuru
earlier convened a Special meeting with the Department led by the MEC Basikop Makamu , and the Lephalale Local Municipality led by the Mayor Aaron Mokgehle. The meeting focused on progress made in the implementation made of the long-awaited New Altoostyd RDP housing project and the Marapong Community Residential Units (CRU) project. During the session both the Department and the Municipality presented updates on the current status of the projects, which are expected to address housing challenges in the Lephalale area.

today received a pre-sitting briefing from the Executive Management of the Legislature led by the Secretary to the Legislature, Dr Maake M.T. The briefing session focused on preparations and procedural matters ahead of the sitting of the House at the Lebowakgomo Legislative Chambers. The House is expected to receive budget presentations from Members of the Executive Council responsible for the Limpopo Department of Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs (CoGHSTA), the Limpopo Department of Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure, as well as the Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety.






The Portfolio Committee on Public Works and Infrastructure today met with Mvula Trust, Independent Development Trust (IDT)
Department of Works and Infrastructure (DPWI) and Road Agency Limpopo (RAL) at the parliamentary village. Hon. Khathu Netshifefe chaired the proceedings where the committee was briefed on the Infrastructure Projects, 2025/26 2nd & 3rd quarter reports of both RAL and the department.

, convened a general staff meeting at the Lebowakgomo Legislative Chambers to formally introduce newly appointed staff members. During the session, Mr Mperekeng Seabi and Mr Sehlare Machabaphala were warmly welcomed into the institution. Dr. Maake encouraged them to actively contribute and demonstrate full commitment in the execution of their respective responsibilities. The meeting underscored the importance of teamwork, professionalism, and dedication in advancing the mandate of the Limpopo Legislature.

, attended the “Talk to the South African Forum” hosted by the South African Reserve Bank, at Saskia in Polokwane. The engagement brought together key stakeholders to unpack pressing economic developments impacting South Africa and the global landscape. Led by Lesetja Kganyago, Governor of the SARB, discussions focused on the rising cost of fuel, inflation trends, foreign exchange dynamics, and the performance of the rand against the US dollar. The forum further explored household spending patterns, inflation expectations over the next two years, and the impact of geopolitical tensions in the Middle East on South Africa’s fuel outlook and the broader food industry.

convened a meeting session to officially welcome newly appointed employees into the institution.










The portfolio committee on Economic Development, Environment and Tourism led by Chairperson, Hon. Mokaba Mapula
has on Thursday, 30th April 2026 had site visits at Musina-Makhado Special Economic Zone (MMSEZ) North site. The department and its entity Limpopo Economic Development Agency (LEDA) led by MEC Matibe Tshitereke joined the committee during the oversight at the north site which is approximately 1.239ha earmarked for the industrial hub for Agro-processing, logistics, automotive manufacturing company, beneficiation industries and general manufacturing. Members of the Committee were pleased to see that contractors were busy working the ground excavating for bulk water infrastructure. Members wrapped up their sites visit by joining the MEC for trees planting on site.
























Today the Portfolio Committee on Health led by its Chairperson, Hon. Dr. Malebana C.WD,
conducted oversight visits at the Limpopo EMS Call Centre and Limpopo Pharmaceutical Depot respectively. The MEC for Health, Hon. Mashego D.M led the team from the Department of Health. The purpose of this oversight visit was to assess compliance, value for money, and the impact of these facilities on healthcare delivery. The Committee was to also assess whether the facilities are an investment which delivers value, ensures compliance and improves healthcare outcomes to the communities of Limpopo Province.
























The Standing Committee on Pandemic and Disaster today visited the Fetakgomo Tubatse disaster centre and the Makhuduthamaga disaster centre in Sekhukhune district. Hon. Mpho Shai
chaired the discussion with senior municipal officials in Burgersfort before heading to Jane Furse. Overall, the committee was unhappy with the state of readiness of fire stations at both municipalities.















The Standing Committee on Public Participation and Petitions, chaired by Hon. Morris Mataboge
has today conducted an adjudication session to assess petitions submitted by residents from Polokwane Local Municipality, Fetakgomo-Tubatse Local Municipality, and Lepelle-Nkumpi Local Municipality. The session focused on a range of service delivery concerns raised by communities within these municipalities. These included issues related to water provision, road infrastructure, sanitation, and general municipal responsiveness to community needs.























The Limpopo Legislature’s Deputy Chair of Chairs, Hon. Ngobeni Hassani
joined the National portfolio committee on Communication and Digital Technologies led by Hon. Khusela Diko during their visit to the Province to conduct site visits in the Capricorn, Vhembe and Waterberg districts respectively. The purpose of the visits is to assess and monitor broadband infrastructure rollout, broadcasting digital migration, and progress on SA connect.





Members of the portfolio committee on Transport & Community Safety chaired by Hon. Lebea Kedibone
met with the department led by MEC Mathye Violet with its entity Gateway Airport Authority Limited (GAAL) at Parliamentary village in Polokwane.Members were more interested on the overdue announcement by the department on their newly appointed board of directors to the committee. The entity had to through the department, elaborate to the committee on their marketing strategy in place for the Airport, and more importantly to take the committee into confidence on measures in place for ensuring attainment of unqualified audit report.









This morning the Portfolio Committee on Education, led by its chairperson, Hon. Rakgoale C.N
conducted an oversight visit at Lwenzhe Technical High school in the Collins Chabane municipality, Vhembe district. The school is under Vhembe East, in Vhuronga 1, and it’s a quintile 1 school. The school is purely technical with Grades 8 and 9 doing electrical, mechanical, and civil engineering. The learners are equipped with skills from N1-N3.















Tuesday, 28th April 2026, Members of the Portfolio Committee on Transport and Community Safety led by Chairperson Hon. Lebea Kedibone
earlier held a Stakeholders engagement session with the Capricorn Taxi Association Executive Committee where they discussed and raised crucial concerns related to operating permits, scholar transport operations, and impounding of operating vehicles awaiting issuing of permits already paid for, that were delayed by backlog. Members of the committee received and noted all concerns raised which were to be raised with the department during their meeting later the same day.

has resolved to postpone today’s public hearing on Limpopo Economic Development Agency (LEDA), following the unavailability of Chairpersons of boards of certain subsidiaries of the Limpopo Economic Development, Environment and Tourism (LEDET), which is led by MEC Hon. Matibe T.B.The public hearing has been postponed to a later date.






































Members of the portfolio committee on Agriculture and Rural Development
led by Deputy Chair of Chairperson in the Limpopo Legislature, Hon. Ngobeni Hassani in his capacity as the acting chairperson during the committee site visit in Madzivhandila Agricultural College in the Vhembe district. Members received a comprehensive presentation from the college head, Ms. Mphahlele PR on their 2025/2026 financial year performance report, which shed some light on programmes and accredited courses offered, skills development programmes, industrial partnerships, farm matters, and challenges faced by the facility.






































Members of the Portfolio Committee on Transport and Community Safety joined a SAPS team led by Limpopo Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe
for an unannounced visit to Molaudzi Secondary School and Makgofe Secondary School. The purpose of the operation was to conduct raids following reports of high levels of bullying at the schools. The operation involved SAPS officers, the K-9 Unit, Mounted Police, Community Policing Forums (CPFs), and School Governing Bodies (SGBs). During the raids, police confiscated dangerous items including knives and scissors, as well as cigarettes, alcohol, and vapes.















In an effort reduce the scourge of Gender Based Violence (GBV) in the province, the Portfolio Committee of Social Development led by chairperson Hon. Simon Mathe
undertook a study tour on best practices and intervention strategies when dealing with GBV. The committee held an in camera briefing before departing for a session with the National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC-Kenya) in Nairobi, today.






















Members of Portfolio Committee on Sport, Arts & Culture concluded their site visits at Muti wa Vatsonga open-air museum
managed by the museum human scientist, Mr. Tebeila Victor who made an elaborate presentation on the origins of the Vatsonga culture and way of life through artefacts and ancient tools used by the Vatsonga people. The facility reported on the high vacancy rate and further expressed their challenges to market the facility broadly due to poor internet connectivity and mostly lack of operational budget.












Members of portfolio committee on Sport Arts & Culture’s next site visit was at Leboneng Library in Namakgale
The Library also raised challenges faced by the facility such as, the need for new upgraded computers, air conditioning system that’s not working and need to be fixed. A need for borehole within the facility and the maintenance and repair of the leaking roof.












Office of the Premier briefed the Portfolio Committee on Public Administration on their 2025/26 2nd and 3rd quarter reports
today at the Parliamentary village. Hon. Premier Dr. Phophi Ramathuba led her senior management team in that session which was steered by Hon. Choris Phokane, the committee chairperson.














The portfolio committee on Sport, Arts & Culture chaired by Hon. Mdaka Falaza
has on Friday, 17th April 2026 conducted site visits in Mopani District with their first stop at Phalaborwa Library.The facility during their presentation to the committee has raised challenges such as but not limited to lack of computers, and lack of space for allocation of children’s section within the facility.













The Portfolio Committee on Provincial Treasury, chaired by Hon. Maseko Solomon Pheedi
convened at the Parliamentary Village in Polokwane to receive a comprehensive briefing from the Limpopo Provincial Treasury on its performance for the 2025/26 financial year. During the session, officials from the Provincial Treasury presented both the Second Quarter and Third Quarter performance reports, outlining progress made against set targets, key achievements, and areas requiring improvement. The reports provided insight into the department’s financial management, service delivery outcomes, and implementation of strategic priorities over the two quarters under review. Committee members engaged the department on several critical issues, including expenditure trends, revenue collection, and challenges affecting the effective utilisation of allocated budgets. Particular attention was given to areas where performance targets were not met, with members seeking clarity on corrective measures and timelines for improvement.

met with the Department led by its MEC , Hon. Lerule-Ramakhanya M.M to present their 2025/2026 2nd and 3rd Quarter performance reports.The meeting which was held at Parliamentary Village, also gave the department an opportunity to provide a progress report on implementation of Committee resolutions.

convened a meeting today, 10 April 2026, at the Parliamentary Village to receive a comprehensive briefing from the Department of Social Development on its 2025/26 financial year performance. The Department presented both the 2nd Quarter and 3rd Quarter Performance Reports, outlining progress made in the implementation of key programmes as well as challenges encountered during the reporting periods. The briefing forms part of the Committee’s ongoing oversight responsibility to ensure that the department delivers effectively on its mandates and utilise public resources efficiently.

held a meeting to consider and adopt minutes of the previous meeting, as well as oversight reports of different schools and facilities visited by the committee in the previous year. together with the Executive Management Team engaged with Limpopo Men’s Sector to tackle various socio-economic issues affecting the sector. The engagement discussed crucial issues affecting men and the boy child in our Province. Wednesday, 8th April 2026, the Portfolio Committee on Transport and Community Safety team 2 led by Hon. Baloyi Dunani
concluded their oversight visits for monitoring and observing of the traffic law enforcement operations post Easter weekend at Moroke/Atok Ratsoma junction. The committee continued to motivate and encourage road users to observe and follow traffic rules, be patient on the roads and avoid driving in fatigue or while under the influence of alcohol.
















The Portfolio Committee on Transport and Community Safety led by the Acting Chairperson Hon. Dowelani Nenguda
conducted an Easter traffic oversight across key routes in the province. The operation was in collaboration with the South African Police Service ( SAPS )and traffic officers , focused on stop and checks activities to ensure road safety compliance . Several vehicles were impounded and traffic fines issued during the operation. The site visits were conducted along the R71 Nobody Road , from Mothibaskraal to Turfloop , as well as Sefateng Ga – Chuene.

The Portfolio Committee on Transport and Community Safety led by the Acting Chairperson Hon. Dowelani Nenguda
, convened earlier this morning for a briefing by the Department of Transport and Community Safety led by MEC Violet Mathye , on the province’s state of readiness for the Easter period. The briefing was joint by the South African Police Service (SAPS) and the Border Management Authority, the department highlighted preparations to manage the anticipated surge in traffic volumes. The department indicated that they are expecting increase in traffic from today , as many people will be traveling to various destinations including religious and social events.

held a meeting with the Department of Health. The department, which was led by its MEC, Hon. Mashego D.M had to present its 2nd and 3rd Quarter Performance Reports for the 2025/26 financial year. The department also presented an update of resolutions of the Portfolio Committee.

This session will ultimately inform the work of the committee for the 2026/27 financial year. It will also be a roadmap for the committee as it fulfills its oversight role as mandated by the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa.

and the staff in Office of the Speaker led by Mr Mavhunga N.T, met to bid farewell to the Media Liaison Officer (MLO), Advocate Makgotho S, who will be leaving the institution at the end of March 2026.









Speaker of the Limpopo Legislature, Hon. Dr Makoma Makhurupetje,
convened a sitting today, focusing on key governance, planning, and budgetary matters aimed at strengthening service delivery across the province.Proceedings commenced with a major highlight of the sitting, tabling of critical institutional documents by the Deputy Speaker. These included the Revised 2025–2030 Strategic Plan and the 2026/27 Annual Performance Plan (APP) of the Limpopo Legislature.
The House also turned its attention to financial matters, with the MEC for Provincial Treasury Hon. Kgabo Mahoai tabling the Motion for the Third Reading of the Limpopo Adjustment Appropriation Amendment Bill, 2026 [B01-2026].
Oversight remained a central focus, as the Legislature considered and adopted several reports from the Portfolio Committee on Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure. These included the 2024/25 Annual Reports of the Department of Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure and the Roads Agency Limpopo (RAL), as well as the 2025/26 First Quarter performance reports for both entities.

The Portfolio Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development has today 18 March 2026
continued its benchmarking tour with Mpumalanga Legislature. Both Committees visited the Mkhondo Agrihub in the Mkhondo Local Municipality, Gert Sibande Region , where the Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Environmental Affairs briefed the Members on the Project. The Agrihub is aimed at addressing market access challenges for local farmers and will serve as a collection point , packaging facility, and wholesale trading center for Agricultural produce. The Committees further visited the Mkhondo One-stop Centre where local farmers will have easy access to Agricultural services. Departmental officials were able to demonstrate the Agricultural smart boxes to the Members




















This morning, 18th March 2026, the Oversight Mechanism Committee led by its Chairperson, Hon. Tshivhase M.P.D
held a meeting with the Legislature, which was led by the Speaker, Hon. Dr. Makhurupetje M.G, Deputy Speaker, Hon. Mamorobela T.P and the institution’s Accounting Officer, Secretary, Dr. Maake M.T and his executive management team. The Legislature had to account to the committee in terms of its performance for the 2nd quarter of 2025/26 financial year. The Oversight Mechanism Committee must maintain oversight over the financial management of the Legislature in terms of the provisions of the Financial Management of Parliament and Provincial Legislatures Act (FMPPLA).






























Wednesday, 18th March 2026, The Portfolio Committee on Transport and Community Safety led by Hon. Lebea Kedibone
met for consideration and adoption of Committee reports and minutes, followed by a planning session for consideration and adoption of the committee 2026/2027 operational plan.








The Portfolio Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development led by its Chairperson Hon Bella Kupa-Mabuza
has today the 17th March 2026 , undertook a local Study tour to meet with their counterparts in Mpumalanga Legislature. The purpose of the visit is to benchmark with the Portfolio Committee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Environmental Affairs and exchange good practices on Agricultural activities and related similar projects. Key focal area was on understanding how Mpumalanga initiated the Nutrition Sourcing Bill. The Programme commenced with a briefing session and exchange of ideas between the Committees and later they conducted sight visit at the Mpumalanga International food Market. During the visit, Members were introduced on how the smart boxes are being used for planting seeds as an alternative to traditional ground planting methods.

has today conducted an educational outreach programme at the Xigalo Fountain of Life Gospel Church in Xigalo village under the Collins Chabane Local Municipality in the Vhembe District Municipality. The outreach programme aimed to educate community members about the role of the Limpopo Legislature and to raise awareness about public participation processes, including how residents can lodge petitions and raise concerns through formal legislative channels. During the session, community members were encouraged to actively engage with the Legislature by submitting petitions on issues affecting their communities. The committee explained the procedures involved in lodging petitions and how these submissions are processed to ensure that government departments and relevant authorities respond to the concerns raised.

During the visit the Members received a comprehensive briefing from the Capricorn District Disaster Management Centre on the impact of the recent severe storms and flooding. The further conducted site inspections in affected areas including Nairn, Sefihlampya, Radimang.


















Group One of the Joint Committees of the Limpopo Legislature has today conducted oversight visits to the Bela-Bela Local Municipality and the Modimolle-Mookgophong Local Municipality
within the Waterberg District Municipality, following recent floods that severely affected the district. The district experienced significant flooding, resulting in extensive damage to critical municipal infrastructure. The affected infrastructure includes roads, stormwater drainage systems, sanitation facilities, low-level bridges, and residential properties. The purpose of the oversight visit is to assess the full extent of the damage, evaluate the response measures undertaken by the municipalities and relevant government departments, and determine the necessary interventions required to restore essential services and provide support to affected communities.

at Mopani District Municipality following the devastating floods and storms that hit the area during the recent rains. The aim of the oversight was to assess the damage caused by the severe weather storms . The joint Committees first met with the Management of Greater Tzaneen Municipality for a briefing on the impact of the floods. During the visit , Members visited the schools and families where infrastructure was destroyed by floods.
