Welcome to the Limpopo Legislature website.

The Limpopo Legislature is established in terms of the 1996 Constitution of the Republic of South Africa. The Constitution confers certain powers upon the Provincial Legislatures to, inter alia, consider, pass, amend or reject Bills brought before the Legislature.

The Legislature is situated in Lebowakgomo, 57 Kilometres from its capital Polokwane. The Legislature is constituted of 49 Members (MPLs), who are elected through a proportional representation system.

Vision

The Legislature is a representative and consultative body, a vanguard of people's aspirations and interests towards a democratic, non-sexist, non-racial, united and prosperous society.

Mission

The Legislature is an autonomous institution and an agent for transformation that strive to:

  • 1. Defend, strengthen, deepen and maintain democracy.
  • 2. Make quality laws and policies for the citizens of the provice.
  • 3. Have effective and meaningful participation of the citizens in the law-making processes.
  • 4. Articulate the needs and desires of the citizens.
  • 5. Maintain norms set nationally for eradication of racism and gender imbalances.
  • 6. Ensure provision, retention of competent skills and efficient utilization of human resources.
